A Real Estate mobile apps with Dating Apps features and experience

Background

the problem

This is my personal project. I create this project because We know covid hit hard on real estate industries.  This giving problem for people who want to buy a house and many of those people not aware with the existence of Real Estate Mobile App. Most of the Real Estate Apps out there have boring design and that caused just normal experience on app. Because of that the in-app time on real estate app is really low. But when pandemic and we stay at home, there are mobile apps that still popular and that isDating apps, so I want to create Real Estate apps with Dating Apps experience.

Research Process

interview the users

First I began research process. I gathered 10 people that have experience on using Real Estate App. Based on my interview on 10 people who have experience on real estate app, I identified 3 pain points:

ease of use:

Most of real estate app usually have no introduction and hard to understand

no goal:

Usually real estate app only be the “bridge” between the users and owner/agents. There is no tracking about user task

tedious ui:

Most of Real Estate Apps are have unappealing UI and design so the user spends little time on app

surfing through competitors

I tried install dating and real estate apps map to create visual blueprint about what should I design on this. Some of the apps are Tinder, Bumble, Brighton Real Esate, Realtor.com Real Estate. I also look some mobile app design on dribbble and behance.

Creating User Flow

proposed solutions

There is no specified goal on Real Estate Apps, just browse houses and reach out the owner or agent. Based on that pain point I start creating a new flow with a clear goal on Real Estate Apps. The goal is book appointment via DatHouse after matched and chat with the owner/agent. With that proposed solution in mind, I began mapping user flow for visual representation of each steps a user needs to reach their end goal.

Design Process

sketches, wireframes, iterations

It’s never easy to combine and design 2 different mobile apps with their own goal and feature. Through trial and error, I tried many path to design better apps that can be enjoyed by every users. Many thing to adjust with the information and the visual and that’s the hardest part.

  • Wireframes

user testing

At low-fi design I run user testing with 10 people from before. Listening to their experience and story, I taken some note of it:

01.

User need confirmation after the made a deal with owner/agent

02.

User need to k eep track on their appointment

03.

User need more accessibility on swipe screen

adopting "swipe" features

Most noticeable features on dating apps is you can just swipe to find your date. Users can spent much time just to swipe and get mathed with other users. So I adopt that features to real estate mobile apps, to solve low in-app time. I also added “Appointment” Features so users can track their meetings with agent/owner of the houses.

Final Thoughts

the conclusions

Combining two main features of different mobile apps can make something “fresh” for the users and it’s difficult too because everything need to be adjusted depends on what the goals of the apps. With this Case Study I hope can help you on journey on UI/UX and Thank You verry much for reading. It really means a lot for me!
